Yes, I run a dovecot server on my Macbook Pro, to be able to receive localy sent mail, because Apple decided that Mail shouldn’t be able to use the /var/mail/$USER mailbox we have been using since 30 years.
So I deleted /var/mail/cbueche and the back-end dovecot started to provide a more senseful email count.
