A sailing colleague sent me a picture for a web site. The file came with a .mix extension. I tried many programs to open and convert it, but no way. I found that .mix is a file format used in Microsoft products a few years ago. The filespec has never been published, and there are no actual Microsoft products able to read this format. From the Microsoft site :
Microsoft has discontinued its line of Digital Image Suite products. Many of the digital imaging features and tools that have been enjoyed for years now can be found in new Microsoft titles and services including Windows Vista™. These products will be available in retail outlets while supplies last.
So so. Sad for the people having .mix files. No way to look at them anymore. Microsoft… what a nice company, looking after its customers so they enjoy a nice IT experience.
