YASV (Yet Another SAP Victim)

sapfailMy home loudspeakers (MB Quart 280) are slowly dying. One of the tweeters makes strange noise, they are about 20 years old anyway, so they deserve a replacement. I have studied the market a lot. One key is of course WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor), so I settled my choice on a 2.1 system, with two floor-standing modern panel speakers, plus a sub-woofer hidden behind the TV set.

I won’t name the brand and model right now, beause they have some internal issue with their stock-management application. Apparently, they are migrating to SAP, and it looks like it’s not yet a full success : I sent my order middle-August, and so far, they haven’t been able to deliver anything, and not even let me know if and when I can get them. My local dealer complained, and got the explanation : they are migrating to SAP, and are in a big mess world-wide. They are now offering me a free upgrade to a better sub-woofer model, which is about 300.- more expensive. This offer is nice, and I’m still patient enough to wait a few more days.

Last week-end, a sailor friend of mine told me how a swiss private hospital almost went broke because their newly acquired SAP marvel could not establish bills for 6 months. About 10 years ago,a local weekly newspaper (l’Hebdo) wrote an article about the shoemaker Bally living the same horror scenario. I seriously hope nothing get wrong with this excellent speaker vendor.

Think again before you get into the SAP trap. You know when you begin, but not when you end, and neither how much you will pay for it. And you may even run out of cash before being done.
