The reason why Windows Phone 8 will fail

Reading this on Engadget : Microsoft confirms no upgrade path to Windows Phone 8, unveils 7.8 for legacy devices. and The debate can now be laid to rest: devices currently running on Windows Phone 7.5 will not be on the receiving end of the long-awaited Apollo update (aka Windows Phone 8). One of the best [...]

iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G

I waited for a few days after iOS4 public availability to upgrade my 2-years old iPhone 3G. Having a need for some applications only available for jailbreaked phones, I used PwnageTool 4.01 to upgrade and jailbreak at the same time. The restore of my custom IPS image in DFU mode failed with error 1600. To [...]

a test from my iPhone

Blogpress is an iPhone app to post blog entries. With BTstack, a Bluetooth keyboard and a jailbroken iPhone, it’s quite usable for posting on the go.

iphone calendar color sync works

At least, Apple fixed an annoying issue : the calendar colors of iCal are replicated to the iphone calendar application. But I still miss a week view. Pocket Informant has their iphone version reviewed by Apple, and maybe 3.x will have it. Hope so.

Week view on iPhone calendar

Hey, Apple, one of the key reason I like my Macbook Pro and my iPhone is the calendar sync. But where the hell is the week view in the iPhone calendar ? It’s missing so much that I’m willing to pay 10$ to the first third-party application delivering this feature. Either iTunes Store or jailbreak [...]

Upgrading my Macbook Pro disk

With iTunes storage used to sync and backup the iPhone, disk space was running low on my Macbook Pro 15″. I bought a Samsung SpinPoint M6 320 Go – 5400t/min. – 2.5″ – SATA disk to replace it and went ahead using this nice guide.

iPhone Updated to 2.0.2 Day 7

Yes, despite the negative reports, I went on to 2.0.2 to try to get better 3G reception in my area. Swisscom says I should have 3G, and I don’t have it. Let’s see… still Egde only. I will have to run around the house to catch the good waves. The next step is to jailbreak [...]

iPhonePasswordManagement Day 6

On the Palm, I used Top Secret, with no desktop counterpart (I had no need for one). After a quick market check, I found SplashId, which has many interesting features : multiple mobile platforms (not that I have any intention to ever use Windows Mobile, but Series 60 is nice to have) sync to a [...]

iPhoneSSH Day 5

Being a UNIX geek, I thought it would be cool to have a ssh client associated with the VPN client. I found it on http://www.instantcocoa.com/products/pTerm/, but so far, the app isn’t available outside the US : Looks like SSH is still considered as a weapon by the security theater paranoids in the USA. In a [...]

iPhoneTodo Day 4

I don’t know what Apple had in mind when they decided to exclude a To-Do application from the iPhone software set. That a big no-go for me, but luckily, third-party developers have stepped in.
